Hiking in the Alps

As so often - the Alps are really not that far away, especially with a sister living in Munich. And ok, I've seen a bit here and then, but I never made a longer hike there. But then I thought, I really should go somewhere to have a short holiday and enjoy the last rays of sun this summer. And I wanted nature and mountains. So I asked Martin and off we went, visited my sister in Munich (once more right in time for the Oktoberfest with a city absolutely crowded) and Knuthi in Zürich, had a lovely stroll and funny kuchen in Switzerland and finally got to South Tirol for the remaining days. And they were just perfect! Had great weather, changing landscapes along the way, walked through moors and climbed the summits (even for sunrise). In the distance the harsh peaks of the Dolomites gave a nice panorama, and in the evening we were awaited by those lovely mountain huts. By this season we were nearly by ourselves - that is together with the two girls, we met the first day and who completed our hiking party from then on. The fireplace in the huts made it cosy and the food was just so yummie! And if we didn't fall into our beds, it must have been because of our host who had some stories to tell and some of his self made schnaps to offer... ;)

More photos here.

Four days, many miles and hundreds of photos later it was civilization again, although I wouldn't have minded staying a bit longer. On the other hand, showers, Andi's ps3 and Emiliana Torrini singing in Berlin weren't that bad either... ;)
